Some of the traditional Algarve sweets have roots in the recipes of the Religious Orders that once passed through the region. At the Convent of São José, in Lagoa, the Carmelite nuns and the Dominican sisters may have been the origin of a conventual sweet that has since become a traditional delicacy: the Florados de Lagoa.
